Mr Andrew Devoy - Curriculum Leader – Technologies
The Technology Department has kicked off the year with an exciting focus on industry-ready learning, supporting students as they work toward their SIT20316 Certificate II in Hospitality. These accreditation opportunities continue to play an important role in preparing our young people for the wide range of careers available across the hospitality sector.
On 11 February, our Year 12 Hospitality class completed a full-day session in the Responsible Service of Gambling (RSG). With so many modern venues incorporating TAB facilities, the RSG has become a highly valued qualification for anyone looking to step into hospitality roles involving gaming environments. Students demonstrated great maturity as they explored safe, ethical and responsible service practices.
The momentum continued the very next day, with our Year 11 Hospitality cohort undertaking their Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) training. Delivered by CTA Training, this course formally concludes the suite of external qualifications included in their Certificate II program. Students engaged with key learning around legal obligations, customer interaction, and managing challenging scenarios — all essential foundations for real-world hospitality work.
The CTA presenters were full of praise for our students’ professionalism and engagement throughout both sessions, reflecting the strong work ethic and enthusiasm within our Hospitality classes.
We look forward to sharing more highlights as the Technology Department continues rolling out hands-on learning experiences and exciting industry opportunities throughout the year.
