JC Social Skills

Students in both groups have been working on asking others if they want to join an activity. We identified that we could ask "Do you want to play with me?" or "Can you help me make…?" to invite peers to engage with our play.

If you notice a student in the yard who requires support in this area, particularly any students from social skills, please model these phrases for them to repeat after you to support them with engaging positively with peers.

Compass Chronicles

Data for the first few weeks of term has been reviewed.

This identified the following:

  • Most incidents are occurring in Classrooms, Le Jardin and on the Synthi.
  • Most incidents are classified as minor physical contact.
  • Students of note: Jesse J, Pierre-Nicolas DV, Angus H.

Supports implemented:

  • Extra support staff (CRTs) scheduled onto Le Jardin and Synthi yard duties when possible.
  • Timetable for students to use Le Jardin to reduce the number of students in this play space and enable more effective supervision of students.
  • Students of note on the JC, if heightened and suspected that they cannot manage positive peer interactions that day, play indoors in Alycia's room during lunch/recess play
  • Assistants/Integration aides timetabled to support with students of note

Please don't forget to log incidents if they occur so that we can continue to use this data in a timely and responsive manner.

Merci!
