Secondary Interhouse Swimming Championships
The 2026 Senior School Interhouse Swimming Championships, held on Thursday 5 February, delivered an outstanding showcase of determination, athleticism and unmistakable Clayfield spirit. With students proudly dressed in their House colours and the pool deck alive with energy, the atmosphere was electric from the first whistle to the final relay.
Across all age groups, swimmers produced courageous performances and tightly contested finishes, with House pride on full display in every event. The noise from the stands rivalled the action in the water, reflecting the unity and camaraderie that defines our Senior School sport culture.
The 2026 winning House and Age Champions will be formally announced at the upcoming College Assembly.
Primary Interhouse Swimming Carnival
On Wednesday 11 February, our Primary students took to the Valley Pool for the 2026 Primary Interhouse Swimming Carnival. With growing participation across Years 2–6, the carnival once again highlighted the depth of enthusiasm and emerging talent within our Junior School.
Students embraced the opportunity to compete, support their peers and contribute to the vibrant House atmosphere. From confident first-time racers to seasoned competitors, every swimmer played a role in creating a positive and inclusive event environment.
The Clayfield Sports Department extends its sincere thanks to the dedicated staff whose preparation and organisation ensured the smooth delivery of both carnivals. We are also grateful to our parent community for their presence and encouragement throughout the day.
Congratulations to all students who competed with courage and House pride, showcasing two exceptional events that have set a strong tone for the 2026 sporting year.
Kyrah Shines in Interschools Equestrian Debut
Kyrah Breay (Year 10 student) delivered an outstanding performance at the recent Stuartholme Interschools Dressage and Show Jumping Competition, representing the College with confidence and composure.
Competing in her first-ever show jumping event, Kyrah claimed an impressive 2nd place, later confirmed as Reserve Champion a wonderful achievement in a highly competitive field. She also recorded strong results in the dressage arena, finishing 16th and 18th, and currently sits 18th overall in the Queensland Dressage Championships standings.
Kyrah’s commitment to her equestrian is clearly gaining momentum, with her talent already drawing attention within equestrian circles. Proudly competing in Clayfield colours including a custom saddle pad and brow band she exemplified both skill and school spirit throughout the weekend.
With upcoming competitions in Warwick and on the Gold Coast (8 March), Kyrah is well placed to continue building valuable championship points as she aims toward regional qualification. Congratulations, Kyrah, on a superb weekend of competition and we look forward to following your journey this season.
Aquathlon Experience on the State Stage
Emmalin Woodcroft and Isla Calder-Potts (Year 6 students) proudly represented Metropolitan North at the Queensland Schools State Aquathlon Championships in Hervey Bay from Thursday 5 – Saturday 7 February.
Competing against some of the state’s strongest school-aged athletes, both girls embraced the challenge of the swim–run format, gaining valuable championship experience and further developing their race craft in a competitive state environment.
Aquathlon demands composure, strength and tactical awareness across both disciplines, and Emmalin and Isla rose to the occasion with determination and maturity.
We commend them on their commitment to the sport and look forward to supporting their continued progression in Aquathlon throughout the season ahead.
