Overview

The Spirit of Clayfield Awards recognise members of our College family - staff, students, Old Collegians and community members, for embodying our College values and inspiring others to let their light shine. Each year, these awards are presented at our Foundation Day Assembly. 

This week, we are celebrating and recognising our Spirit of Clayfield Award Winners in the Staff and Student categories. 

Awarded to two students (one Junior and one Senior), this award honours students who exhibit the College values of Care, Integrity, Resilience and Respect and contribute positively to the school and wider community. It acknowledges qualities of character and contribution that Clayfield College is proud to embrace and the way that these qualities let the light shine in those around them. At the end of last year, Academic and Corporate staff were invited to forward their student nominations.

Junior Student Winner - Michaela Prasad

Michaela is an exceptional student whose enthusiasm, talent, and determination enrich the Clayfield College community. She embraces every opportunity - whether on the netball court, in the music program, or in the classroom - with resilience, grit, and a commitment to giving her best. As a learner, she is bright, motivated, and eager to grow, seeking feedback and setting personal goals with maturity beyond her years. Her positive attitude uplifts those around her, and she leads through kindness, integrity, and encouragement. A standout role model, Michaela contributes joyfully to the supportive culture of the College and is truly deserving of recognition.

Senior Student Winner - Demi de Tournouer

Demi is an exemplary Clayfield College student whose character, integrity, and commitment shine in every aspect of her school life. She consistently embodies the College values, showing respect, care, and responsibility while supporting her peers and contributing positively to the school community. A dedicated member of the sports program, Demi trains with discipline, reliability, and enthusiasm, inspiring her teammates through her strong work ethic. In the classroom, she demonstrates resilience, curiosity, and a genuine desire to learn, approaching challenges with determination. Demi’s integrity, kindness, and perseverance make her a standout role model whose contributions enrich the culture of the College.

Honouring one academic and one corporate staff member who demonstrate enthusiasm, exceptional effort and commitment. It acknowledges qualities of performance that Clayfield College is proud to embrace and the way that these qualities let the light shine in those around them. Staff are nominated by their peers and selected after consultation with the Senior Leadership Team and the Principal. The Spirit of Clayfield College Committee is comprised of the Senior Leadership Team and an elected member of the Clayfield College Consultative Committee.

Academic Staff Winner - Tim Opstelten

Tim is an exceptional educator whose passion for music enriches the Clayfield College community. His genuine love of music shines through in every rehearsal and performance, inspiring students to give their best and take pride in their achievements. His enthusiasm and calm positivity create a supportive environment where students grow with confidence. Highly respected by staff, students, and families, Tim consistently demonstrates professionalism, warmth, and integrity. He goes above and beyond at College events, ensuring performances are polished and meaningful. Through his dedication, compassion, and collaborative spirit, Tim strengthens relationships across the school and truly embodies the Spirit of Clayfield.

Corporate Staff Winner - Alice Bertram

Alice is an exceptional contributor whose professionalism, warmth, and leadership have strengthened the Clayfield College community. As Enrolments Manager, she supports generational growth with expertise, integrity, and genuine care, creating an immediate sense of trust for new families. Her deep knowledge and calm, solutions‑focused approach make her a respected leader who improves systems, mentors others, and supports colleagues with positivity. Her resilience and professionalism shine even during high pressure periods, and her upbeat nature trademark smile and infectious laugh lift those around her. Alice consistently goes above and beyond, embodying the College’s values and delivering outstanding service.
