Quality Foundations

Our Foundation Day assembly this week was a time when we remember the effort and commitment of those who, from its inception back in 1931, have contributed through the decades to make our College the excellent educational environment that it is today.

American author Elton Trueblood said, ‘A man has made a start on discovering the meaning of living, when he plants shade trees; under which he knows full well, he never will sit!’

In our world where people expect instant results, it is easy to be consumed with the need to look good immediately rather than building slowly from a quality foundation. Perhaps it is even less desirable to do something from which you personally will not benefit. Yet that is what Miss Ashburn, our first Principal, and those who supported her did. They worked to build a legacy not for themselves but for young people and the future.

Colossians 2:23-24 tells us,

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as though you were working for the Lord and not for people. Remember that the Lord will give you as a reward what he has kept for his people.”

Inter-School Christian Fellowship

On Saturday 28 February we have the first of our combined schools’ Inter-School Christian Fellowship (ISCF) events for students in Years 7 to 12.  This will be a social with BBC and Somerville House, starting with a chapel service and pizza dinner and then on to ice skating at Ice World at Boondall. All Senior School students are welcome to attend.  If your child would like to join the fun, please ask them to come and see more for more details.
