Dear BEPS community,

Welcome back to Term 2! This term, we will focus on the big idea, “I am a tourist”. Students across Foundation to Year 6 will build their Mandarin skills through engaging and level-appropriate themes.

Foundation students will consolidate numbers from 1 to 10 and begin learning colours while exploring Chinese culture through the story of the Chinese Zodiac.

Year 1 and 2 students will focus on animals from different Chinese regions, using Mandarin to describe features, actions, and habitats. 

Year 3 and 4 students will explore local foods from various cities in China, strengthening language for preferences and developing writing skills through character practice, supported by differentiated tasks and interactive activities. 

Year 5 and 6 students will investigate famous landmarks in China, learning their history and cultural significance while expanding reading, listening and speaking skills through different tasks, with lessons tailored for both second-language and background learners.
