Laudato Si’: Caring for Our Common Home

Laudato Si Week 2026 is celebrated from May 17 to 24, inviting Catholics worldwide to move from hope to action in caring for our common home.

In Laudato Si’ (“Praise be to You”), Pope Francis invites us all to care for the Earth, which he describes as our “common home.” This encyclical (a teaching document written by the Pope who is the leader of the Catholic Church) reminds us that God created the world as a gift, and we are called to respect and protect it. Pope Francis highlights that our planet is suffering due to pollution, climate change, and overuse of resources. A central message of Laudato Si’ is that “everything is connected.” Caring for the environment also means caring for people, especially the poor and vulnerable who are most affected by environmental damage.

Pope Francis called us to take responsibility through small, meaningful actions—such as reducing waste, conserving energy, and showing respect for creation in our daily lives. As a school community, we are encouraged to live out this message by working together to protect our world and care for one another, now and for future generations.

Kind regards

What are all the red ribbons about in the drive through?! It's the Feast of Pentecost this Sunday!

All classes have been invited to attend Pentecost Sunday Mass on May 24th at 10.15 am.  Pentecost is celebrated 50 days after Easter to commemorate the descent of the Holy Spirit as tongues of fire upon the apostles. (Acts 2:1-31) It is known as the birthday of the Church because it marks the start of the Church's mission of compassion for the world. To symbolise the tongues of fire please wear a touch of red to the Mass. Our recently baptised families will be receiving their certificates at the Mass so please come to welcome them into our community. Morning tea will follow with a red theme. Please feel free to bring something to share for this very special occasion!
