Middle School News

Year 7 to Year 9

Welcome to Term Two – Middle School

As we begin Term Two, I would like to extend a warm welcome back to our Middle School students and families. I hope the Easter break provided an opportunity for rest, reflection and quality time together and that our students have returned refreshed and ready to engage in the term ahead.

Term Two is an important period in the Middle School journey. It is a time when routines are well-established, expectations are clear, and students are encouraged to take greater ownership of their learning, wellbeing and personal growth. Across Years 7–9, our students will continue to be challenged academically while being supported pastorally as they develop confidence, resilience and responsibility.

A strong focus this term will be on attendance, organisation and positive learning behaviours. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential to student success, and we appreciate families' continued partnership in reinforcing these expectations at home. We also encourage students to use their Student Planner and SEQTA – Learn effectively to track assessment tasks and manage their workload. The Atomi and ClickView subscription platforms should be used to support and extend learning, and this can be a positive way for our students to become independent learners and to support them in reaching their level of personal excellence.

From a learning perspective, students will engage in a range of curriculum experiences aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum and the Catholic Education Framework. Teachers will continue to provide explicit feedback to support improvement and growth, and we encourage families to engage in ongoing conversations with students about their learning progress.

Pastoral care remains central to our approach to the Middle School and the College. Through PCG groups, year‑level structures and wellbeing initiatives, we aim to ensure that every student feels known, valued and supported. This term also provides opportunities for students to continue developing leadership skills, service and responsibility within the College community. There are numerous Clubs available for students to join to increase their engagement at the College and to help them make friends with students who share similar interests.

Our Catholic identity continues to underpin all aspects of College life. Throughout the term, students will participate in prayer, liturgies and Religious Education experiences that invite reflection, compassion and a commitment to living out our Gospel values in daily actions.

I would like to thank families for their continued support and partnership. Open communication between home and school is essential, and we encourage families to reach out to Year Coordinators or PCG teachers with any concerns or questions.

We look forward to a positive and productive Term Two as we continue to work together to support the learning and wellbeing of our Middle School students.

Regards,

Mr Brendan McGrath

Head of Middle School (Year 7 to Year 9)
