ANZAC Dawn service

A group of our students had the privilege of representing Kolorer College at the annual ANZAC Day Dawn Service, proudly serving as student representatives at one of Australia's most significant commemorative events. Joining veterans, current and former Australian Defence Force personnel, local dignitaries, families, and members of the wider community, students participated in a moving ceremony honouring the courage, sacrifice, and service of the Australian and New Zealand men and women who have served their countries in times of war, conflict, peacekeeping, and humanitarian operations.

The Dawn Service provided students with a powerful opportunity to reflect on the enduring significance of ANZAC Day and the importance of remembering those who have made extraordinary sacrifices in the service of others. Through the traditional elements of the ceremony—including the laying of wreaths, the Ode of Remembrance, the Last Post, the minute's silence, and the national anthems—students gained a deeper appreciation of the history and traditions that continue to shape Australia's national identity.

Representing Kolorer College at this important community event also allowed students to demonstrate the College values of respect, responsibility, leadership, and service. Their attendance reflected a commitment to honouring the legacy of past and present service personnel while recognising the importance of preserving these traditions for future generations. Students conducted themselves with maturity, dignity, and compassion throughout the service, showing great respect for the solemn nature of the occasion and the stories of those who have served.

We are incredibly proud of the way our student representatives conducted themselves and the respect they showed throughout the ceremony. Their participation not only strengthened the College's connection with the local community but also reinforced the importance of remembrance, gratitude, and active citizenship. It was a meaningful and memorable experience that will remain with our students for years to come, reminding them of the importance of reflecting on our shared history and honouring those whose service has helped shape the freedoms we enjoy today.
