Principal's Report

Mother's Day Afternoon Tea

Thank you to all the Mums, Grandmothers and Special People who attended our Mother's Day Afternoon Tea. It was lovely to have the opportunity to chat with everyone and embrace not only the wonderful sense of community, but also the appreciation for all that families do to support their children (our students) in being their 'best' every day at school.

I hope that all who attended liked our small gift to acknowledge their attendance and the upcoming Mother's Day this Sunday.  I hope that everyone has a wonderful Mother's Day, whether it's getting a sleep-in, heading out to watch footy or any sports, or having a special meal with your loved ones.

WSN Conference

This week, Rae Gittos and I had the honour of attending the Whittlesea Schools Network 2-day conference in Sorrento. This was a very rewarding experience, with much to learn regarding Stronger Together: Navigating Complexity with Clarity and Courage. Next week, I will provide a full report on key information regarding the implications not only for Whittlesea Primary School but also for education in general.

Thank you

After more than 40 years of service, we say thank you to Val. For generations of Whittlesea families, Val has been the friendly face on Laurel Street, guiding children safely across the road through rain, hail or shine. Val’s kindness and dedication have left a lasting mark on our community. As Val begins a well-earned retirement, we thank her for the care and commitment she has shown over four incredible decades.

Attendance Matters

Regular school attendance is vital for primary students as it supports learning, confidence, and overall wellbeing. Being at school each day helps children build strong literacy and numeracy skills, stay engaged in lessons, and avoid gaps in their learning that can be difficult to catch up on. Attendance also supports social development, giving students the chance to build friendships, develop communication skills, and feel connected to their school community. Establishing positive attendance habits early in primary school helps set the foundation for future success, encouraging responsibility and a positive attitude towards learning.

Whilst our tracking data below is positive, we still need to strive to be above the other categories, including network, similar and state schools.

Please remember to update Compass if your child is absent, as we want ot work to ensure that any absences are 'explained' rather than 'unexplained'. Feel free to give the office a call if you need any support with entered absences.

Enjoy your weekends,
