ARTIST IN RESIDENCE
St Liborius is thrilled to announce that celebrated Indigenous artist Elli Jackson has commenced an ‘Artist in Residence’ program at St Liborius! She will work with every student in our school to create a stunning collaborative artwork inspired by our school community.
What a fabulous first day of our Artist in Residence program with Elli Jackson! Elli spoke to students in Years 1–4 about her artwork and her journey as a local Indigenous artist. She discussed how art is a powerful way to tell stories and introduced students to the Indigenous symbols she uses in her work.
By the end of Day One, Elli and the students had painted the background of our collaborative artwork. Elli also explained the meaning behind the piece and how it represents the students of St Liborius growing and thriving on their journey from Prep to Year 6.

As families are purchasing items and preparing for the new school year the following information is a reminder about school uniforms! We take great pride in our uniform and would like to remind our families of expectations. Our uniform shop has all requirements and is very well priced with good quality materials! We ask that students do not wear branded clothes (this includes sports shorts and socks.) The sport shorts from the uniform shop are recommended as they are longer in style (as per our SunSmart policy!) Shoes are so important as they work hard! We ask that shoes are fully black (no white soles) and that canvas shoes are not worn (either for formal or sport) Please if you need support with uniforms or have any questions, message us or make contact when we are back at school. We are here to help! Below is the uniform requirements and remember to label all clothing especially jumpers and hats! We will let you know Uniform Shop arrangements. Orders can also be made online.
TUCKSHOP VOLUNTEERS
We need your help. If you can spare some time each week on a Friday, please consider volunteering. We will be unable to run the tuckshop if we do not have your support. Please message us if you can!

PLAYGROUP
St Liborius Playgroup runs every Thursday during term time, with opportunities for free play, music, movement and craft each week. Join us in our welcoming and safe environment, a chance for both you and your child to socialise and form connections. We hope to see you there!

$3 per family - includes hot drinks and morning tea for grown ups

Morphology activities - Children's chatter matters
Word Builder: Give your child base words and prefixes/suffixes and see how many words they can build, and what meaning they might have:
- Prefixes: un- de- pre- re- co- con-
- Base Words: play help flex bend blue sad sat Management
Suffixes: -ful -ly -less -able/-ible -ing -ion -y -ish -ness -ment
Finding root words and syllables in "Big Words": Ask your child to preview the next chapter of their textbooks and write down 10 "Big Words." Next, have them highlight the root words that they recognize and take off any affixes that they see. Next, they should break up the remaining parts of the word into syllables. Encourage them to infer the meaning of the word based on these word parts. Ask them how they would pronounce the word. A couple of examples follow:
Metamorphosis:
- Root: Morph (change)
- Affix: meta (whole/big picture)
- Possible meaning: change of the whole thing
Possible pronunciation: meta/morph/a/sis
Oxygenate:
- Root: Oxygen (an element on the periodic table)
- Affix: -ate (to fill)
- Possible meaning: to fill with oxygen
- Possible pronunciation: ox/y/gen/
