UPDATED STUDENT LEARNING GOALS

Please take some time to view your child’s updated Learning Goals document, which is now available via PAM. Your child’s personalised learning goals have been closely monitored throughout the term to ensure their progress is carefully tracked and supported. When a goal has been achieved, this will be clearly marked and accompanied by relevant evidence and teacher observations. A new goal will then be set to build on their progress and continue extending their learning. Goals that your child is still working towards will be marked as “ongoing,” indicating that your child is continuing to build their skills and understanding in that area.

Learning goals form a key part of our assessment and reporting process. They provide meaningful insight into your child’s learning journey and help keep families informed, engaged, and connected to their child’s growth at school.

MATHS FLUENCY TASKS

This term, all year levels have been incorporating Maths Fluency tasks into their maths lessons. These are short, timed activities that focus on addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Developing quick and automatic recall of number facts is an important skill for students. When students can access their maths knowledge accurately and with ease, they are better able to apply it to more complex and challenging, higher-order thinking tasks.

Our goal is for key mathematical facts and procedures to move from something students need to actively think about to something they know automatically. This automaticity frees up their thinking, allowing them to focus on and succeed in more challenging tasks.

Students have been enjoying tracking their personal growth, and it’s great to see them becoming quicker and more accurate each day.
