The Year 6 Mini Fete was a fantastic success today! ☀️ With beautiful weather, a wonderful variety of stalls and games, excited students and plenty of delicious food, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
The fete was a great opportunity for students to put their Business and Economics unit into practice, developing their entrepreneurial skills and learning about running a small business.
Thank you to our wonderful teachers for organising this over the last few weeks, and also to our supportive parents for helping make the day such a success!
A big congratulations to the Year 6 students as well for their amazing stalls, ideas and hard work over the day, and the last few weeks. You should be very proud of your efforts!

Scofield entered our 2026 National Water Week Poster Competition and won 2nd Place in the Years 3 & 4 category.

I am delighted to share Aydin’s (in Year 5) outstanding achievement in football! Aydin plays soccer at a high level outside of school and earlier this year trialled for Global Football Network that visits Australia annually to select talented junior players for an overseas tour.
Aydin has been selected for this exciting opportunity, where he will train and compete against English Premier League academy teams. His first match will be against Manchester City, an incredible experience and milestone in his football journey. Aydin departs for the UK on Monday, 26 October, and we wish him every success on this exciting adventure.
We are incredibly proud of Aydin at WHPS and look forward to hearing all about his experiences!

We are now at that time of the year when we begin planning for 2027.
We understand that some families may unfortunately not be returning to Wheelers Hill Primary School next year due to relocating home or changing schools. If this applies to your family, we are sorry to see you leave our school community and thank you for being part of WHPS.
If you know that your child/children will not be attending WHPS in 2027, please contact the school by phone or email to let us know of your plans. This information is extremely helpful as we plan classes, staffing and resources for next year.
Later this term, our teaching staff will begin the process of forming classes for the 2027 school year. When creating these classes, teachers carefully take into account a range of factors including friendship groups, student personalities, academic progress, and overall classroom dynamics. A great deal of thought and planning goes into making sure each class is balanced and set up for success.
If you wish to inform me of a request for your child’s class placement in 2027, please email me at michael.ramsey@education.vic.gov.au no later than Friday, 30th October.
Please note:
We kindly ask that you do not send a list of friends your child would like to be placed with. As part of the class placement process, students will be given the opportunity to list friends they would like to be with (in no particular order), and we will ensure each student is placed with at least one friend from their list.
In situations where parent requests are in conflict, teachers will use their professional judgement and understanding of the students to make the most appropriate decision. While we aim to take all requests into account, the complexity of the class formation process means we cannot guarantee every request will be met.
Families will be informed of 2027 class placements on the whole school transition day later in Term 4. If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch.
Assembly will be held on the oval at 2pm (weather permitting) on the dates listed below.
As always, parents and families are very welcome to attend.
Friday 30th October
Friday 13th November
Thursday 26th November
Tuesday 15th December - last assembly for the year, farewell to the Year 6 students.
We are very proud to announce that Wheelers Hill Primary School has been named a finalist in the 2026 Victorian Education Excellence Awards in the category, Outstanding Provision for High-Ability Students - Primary. Myself, Ms Richards, Mr Okita and Mr Stockton will be attending the awards ceremony on Friday 23rd October at the Melbourne Museum, where we will find out whether WHPS has been named the winner.

Being recognised as a finalist in this category is a wonderful achievement for our school and reflects the high-quality enrichment and extension opportunities provided to our students over many years. Our staff have worked hard to develop programs that challenge students, extend their learning and provide opportunities for them to pursue their interests and reach their potential.
We look forward to sharing the outcome of the awards with our school community after the ceremony. Regardless of the result, being named a finalist is an achievement we can all be very proud of.

Just a reminder to save the Date for the 50th Anniversary celebration on Friday 13th November from 5-9pm. We are planning on having:
