Book Week 2026 – A Symphony of Stories
What a wonderful celebration of reading and imagination we enjoyed during Book Week! Our students embraced this year's theme, "A Symphony of Stories," with great enthusiasm, creativity and joy.
A highlight of the week was our annual Book Week Parade, where students proudly showcased their costumes inspired by favourite book characters. It was fantastic to see the effort families put into creating such imaginative costumes and to witness the excitement as students shared their love of reading with the school community.
We were also delighted by the outstanding entries in our Creative Minds 3D Story Scene Competition. The judges were overwhelmed by the creativity, attention to detail and quality of the submissions. Thank you to all students and families who dedicated time and effort to bringing memorable book scenes to life.
Book Week provides a valuable opportunity to celebrate the power of stories to inspire, entertain and connect us. We hope that the events throughout the week have encouraged our students to continue exploring new books and developing a lifelong love of reading.
Thank you to our staff, families and students for making Book Week such a memorable celebration of literature and learning.
Scholastic Book Fair
A huge thank you for your generous support for the Book Fair during Book Week.
The fair generated a total sales of $8690.40.
From this, the school earned $2607 in Scholastic rewards which means more resources for our literacy and library.
Many more thanks to the parents who came to help, some of whom were thrown into the 'lion's den'; coping with the children's wish lists and re-orders. It got hectic but we got there in the end.

Thanks also to Kellie and Teresa who counted and re-counted the notes and the coins.

3D Story Scene Competition Awards
Congratulations to those students who participated in our Book Week 3D Story Scene Competition.With close to forty entries submitted, the judges were overwhelmed by the exceptional calibre of the contestants. The creativity, imagination, attention to detail, and enthusiasm displayed in each entry made the judging process both challenging and enjoyable.
The 3D designs have been returned to the students' classrooms, where you can negotiate a time with the classroom teacher for the design to be collected and returned home.
In recognition of the creativity, imagination, and effort in designing a 3D Story Scene that recreates a memorable moment from a book, we are pleased to present all students with a participation certificate.
All prize winners and participation certificates were presented to the school today at the end of recess. The following students listed below received a winning prize of a $25.00 gift certificate donated by the Parent and Friends Association.

Author Visit - Junior School Incursion
The Prep, Year One, and Year Two students were lucky enough to have a special author visit during Book Week. Olivia Cheung gave us a fascinating behind the scenes look into how she created her beloved bilingual children’s picture book, Kam Chai and the Old Bakery.
Olivia brought incredible energy to our school community, sharing her passion for language, culture, and storytelling with our young learners. She shared how she brought her story to life by:
- Drawing from real life: Finding inspiration in cherished cultural traditions and the comforting, nostalgic smells of a traditional bakery.
Weaving two languages: Carefully balancing English and Cantonese text so that children can connect with both languages simultaneously.
Olivia’s visit was a wonderful reminder of how stories can bridge cultures and keep heritage alive for the next generation. A huge thank you to Olivia for inspiring our young readers and writers!
