Every day Counts – the importance of 95 per cent attendance

Every day Counts – the importance of 95 per cent attendance.  Going to school every day is the single most important part of your education.  Students learn new things at school every day – missing school puts them behind.  There is no safe number of days for missing school – each day you miss puts you behind and can affect your educational outcomes. Each missed day is associated with falling behind in subject topics and assessment tasks.

Research shows that students who have an attendance rate of 95% or greater are more likely to be able to achieve expected learning growth.  Those who have an attendance rate of less than 95% are less likely to make expected learning growth.  Congratulations to the 254 students who achieved 95 per cent attendance throughout February.  You have started 2024 off the right way and are on track to make the expected learning growth based on your attendance.

Below is a graph chart that shows our school attendance for February.

Last year, Clyde Primary spent the year working on improving their knowledge and understanding with School Wide Positive Behaviour Support.  Last year, staff learned about setting a classroom expectations matrix, collecting data to improve student outcomes and using that data to choose what expectations are important for their cohort. I am pleased to say that our efforts are well rewarded and we have gone from a bronze to a silver status with the Department of Education.  I would like to thank all the staff, students and parents in the community for supporting us in this achievement.  We look forward to maintaining our silver status for this year.  If you have any questions about SWPBS, please come and see Mr Russell.
