Principal's Report

Michelle Mackenlay

Harmony Week is a time to celebrate Australian multiculturalism, and the successful integration of migrants into our community.  Australia is one of the most successful multicultural countries in the world and we should celebrate this and work to maintain it. The message of Harmony Week is everyone belongs.  It is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.  Schools have always been Harmony Week’s greatest supporters.

Clyde PS will be hosting a number of Harmony Week events including:

Monday 25th March - We are encouraging our students to wear either traditional clothing, or orange clothing, as orange is the chosen colour for Harmony Week.

Our staff are also celebrating Harmony Week on Monday 25th with foods from around the world at a special morning tea.

Our whole school assembly at 9:15am includes a Harmony Week themed song performed by our new school choir.

Wednesday 27th March - Sri Lankan dancing and drumming workshops for students who paid the $5 participant cost.

Over the week all classes will participate in a range of activities to promote inclusiveness and belonging.  These celebrations create opportunities for all of us to think, talk about

and recognise how our differences make Australia a great place to live.

House Athletics Days

We had such an amazing week in Week 7 with our Year 3-6 House Athletics Days. It was great to see so many students participating and giving all the events a go. We were very lucky with the weather too! Thanks to all the parents/carers that came to cheer on the students and a BIG THANK YOU to Ben Masterson and Nade Talagala for being such great helpers on the events days.  We really appreciate your help.  Congratulations to the following students for their placements.

End of Term Events

A reminder to all that we have our whole school assembly at 9:15am in the gym on Monday 25th March.  This will include the badge presentation to our Student Representative Council (SRC) and a choir performance.

Our Easter Hat Parade will be at 9:15 on the last day of term, raffle prizes will also be drawn.  We encourage students to make a hat to wear at the parade.

School Photo Day

Our School Photo Day is on the first Friday 19th back of Term 2. Today students would have brought home their individual photo order forms in preparation for the first week back.

ANZAC Day - Term Two

ANZAC Day is a national day of remembrance to commemorate Australians and New-Zealanders who served for their countries.  As ANZAC Day is a Public Holiday, our school will commemorate ANZAC Day in the second week of Term 2, on Wednesday 24th April at 9:15am.

Student Leaders will be selling badges for the RSL at the school gates and they will lead the commemoration, followed by the laying of a wreath by the school's flagpole on the grassed field.

End of Term

Next term Thursday 28th March is the last day of Term 1.  All students will be dismissed at 2:30pm.  Term 2 begins on Monday 15th April.

We wish you all a lovely Easter and look forward to seeing you back in Term 2!
