Medication at school
All medication was sent home on the last day of school in 2023.
All student medication will need to be returned to Kym Bennetts at the Front Office. Tablets need to be supplied in a Webster Pack, along with up-to-date medication agreements, anaphylaxis and or asthma care plans. All medication needs to be labelled with a chemist label, with the child's name and administration details.
It is a requirement from the Department for Education that all health care plans are reviewed at least every 12 months or sooner if there is a change in condition or care.
If your child requires a new care plan, these can be accessed electronically from the department’s internet www.education.sa.gov.au or our Front Office.
If your child no longer requires health support at school please advise us in writing to dl.0272.admin@schools.sa.edu.au and in the Subject Field ‘Attention Kym Bennetts’ so we can remove it from our records. Please note that once the medical condition is removed from your child’s records, standard first aid practices will be used should a medical emergency arise.
New Processes for Medication
All exchanges involving controlled drugs between the school & parents must be recorded on our controlled drugs register. When controlled drugs are delivered to Modbury School P-6, and given back to the parent or guardian, parents must sign our controlled drugs register. Parents will receive copies of the medication administration forms at the end of every term.
Any changes to the administration of controlled medication needs to be in writing, via a health care plan amendment from the child's doctor. Please note that school staff are unable to make changes to the administration of medication without this information.
Children will either have swimming or aquatics lesson this term and all children with a health condition will require a current plan to be able to participate. If you need any more information or forms, please come to office and we will help.
Kind regards,
Kym Bennetts
