From the Leadership Team
Welcome back to 2024
We warmly welcome back all our families to Modbury School P-6 this year and a special welcome to all our new families joining us this year, especially our new Pre-School and Reception families as they start Pre-School or school for the first time. We know that you will enjoy your time with us at Modbury - as it is a wonderful community. We hope you have enjoyed your break and had the chance to relax, spend time with your loved ones, and create some special memories.
We are looking forward to the new school year and have certainly been busy over the holidays with some facilities work at the school. We will be sharing some pictures of our new spaces in this edition of the newsletter.
New newsletter - new name required

Site Improvement Plan
Our Site Improvement Plan is focused on the following goals in Literacy and Numeracy that we will be working on in 2024.
Goal 1 - Literacy
Increase in the percentage of students meeting or exceeding reading benchmarks, fostering a culture of literacy excellence.
Goal 2 - Numeracy
Increase in the percentage of students meeting or exceeding reading benchmarks, fostering a culture of numeracy excellence.
We look forward to sharing our progress with our goals over 2024 with you.
Term Overviews
Teachers will be posting their Term 1 Curriculum Overviews to Class Dojo next Thursday to keep our families informed of the learning that is occurring for your child in their classroom. Specialist teacher curriculum overviews will also be posted to Class Dojo for our families.
AGM and Open Afternoon
We will hold an Open Afternoon on Tuesday 13th February from 5.00-6.00 pm. This is a great opportunity where your child can be the leader of their learning area and show you around the school. You may also like to visit our Specialist teachers who are working on this day - Mr Isaac (PE) and Ms Ashdown (Performing Arts) and see their learning spaces. We are looking forward to seeing you on this day.
Open Afternoon will be followed by our Annual General Meeting (AGM) from 6.00-7.00 pm where we will look at the overview of 2023 and elect our members for the 2024 Governing Council.
Parent Connections
Parent Connections are in Week 6 and will be a great way for our families to connect with their child's classroom teacher. Please read through the information below as teachers will be asking parents/caregivers the following information to build the successful foundations for each of our students. Our goal is to meet with every family - please look out for the Booking Information via Class Dojo in the coming weeks.
First Day of School 2024
We were so excited to see our wonderful Modbury students return to school on Monday. We were out in the yard capturing the first-day vibes as our students were able to catch up with friends and see their teachers. It was a lovely morning.
Thank you for entrusting us with your children's education and your continued support in making Modbury School P-6 a truly exceptional place for learning and growth.
We are looking forward to a fabulous start to the new school year and are excited to be working with you all. If you have any questions regarding your child, please feel free to come and see us.
We hope you enjoy reading through the newsletter.
Warm regards,
Sara, Ali and Sheila.
