Shrove Tuesday

Shrove Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday, also known as Pancake Day. Shrove Tuesday is the last day before the Lent season of fasting leading up to Easter. My sincere thanks to Jo Knox, Ben Stein, and the VM Students who cooked pancakes for our school community on Tuesday. Money raised will go towards Project Compassion.

Project Compassion Launch

On Wednesday our Student Mission Team, Scott, and I headed over the hills to Marist Sion College to the Project Compassion Launch.

The service was prepared by Deputy Principal of Catholic Identity - Jacinta Johnson, led by their student leaders, and presided over by Bishop Greg Bennet. Nicole from Caritas spoke about the great work being done in many countries around the world with money raised for Caritas. After the service, our students were invited to refreshments that included a nice feed of pancakes 🥞! Thanks to the Marist staff and students who prepared them for us.

JJAMM 2024 – Sydney

On Friday 16th February Scott, myself, and our two school Captains Dinisty and Jack took off on a jet plane to Sydney for the JJAMM experience.

On arrival, we got to explore some of the Sydney sights. Saturday saw the start of the conference and the schools from across Australia and New Zealand began to arrive.

Some ice-breaker games were played and before long the students were interacting and getting to know each other well.  During the 4 days of the JJAMM experience, the students extended their knowledge of the Josephite Charism, enhanced their leadership skills, were given some great well-being tips for their year as a leader, and were given some very useful tips for public speaking.  Please make sure you read Dinisty and Jack’s reflections, so you get a feel of what they got out of the trip.  There were many sad faces and big hugs when we left on Tuesday afternoon.  New friendships and lifelong bonds were made.
