Prep

Mrs Jo Towill

We have had a very busy time over the past 3 weeks. The students have really settled into classroom routines and procedures, started their take home reading and classroom learning. In English we have focused on the letter sounds ‘a, i, m, s, t, n, o, and p’ and we are starting to spell, read and write words with these letters in our daily 'Sounds Write' lessons.

We made our own 'I go to Bittern Primary School' books where we learnt about concepts of print including letters, words, sentences, title, illustration, direction for reading and punctuation. We visited Mrs Herbert's office to see what she does for the school so we could draw her. We also did pages about PE, Art, Auslan and Music. We cut, pasted and matched words to make sentences. Then we illustrated our pages.  We are very proud of our work!

In Maths we have focused on collecting data, counting, subitising, writing numbers to 10 and sequencing the days of the week. To integrate our English and Maths learning, we  read 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'.  Students have also had lessons in PE, Art, Music and Auslan. In our Inquiry unit on 'Identity' we have been setting organisational goals and learning about teamwork, healthy habits and our strengths.

We loved Pancake Day!
