Principals Report
It’s that important time of the year again when our students in Years 9, 10, and 11 begin the process of subject selection. This is a significant phase in your academic journey, as the choices you make now will play a crucial role in shaping your future career aspirations.
I cannot stress enough the importance of gathering all the necessary information about the subjects available. Speak with your teachers and seek their advice on what subjects align best with your strengths and interests. They are here to support and guide you in making informed decisions.
Remember, we have an incredible careers team, Mr Nick Masters and Ms Megan McPherson, available if you have any specific questions. They are more than willing to assist you in navigating this important decision-making process. The careers room can be found next to the admin area.
It’s essential to remember that this is not the time to choose subjects based on what your friends are doing. Instead, focus on what will benefit you personally and academically. Have a voice in selecting the program that will best set you up for success in your future endeavours.
Make the most of this opportunity to pave the way for a bright and promising future.
Year 10 Pathway Expo
Continuing the careers themed events, on Tuesday 6th August, our Year 10 students will have the opportunity to explore the 2025 Subject Expo during periods 5 and 6. This event is designed to help students make informed decisions about their subject choices for the upcoming academic year.
The expo will feature displays and information booths from all learning areas, providing students with a comprehensive overview of the subjects available in 2025. Learning area leaders will be on hand to answer any questions and offer guidance to help students choose the best pathway for their interests and career aspirations.
In addition to the daytime sessions for students, the expo will remain open after school until 4:30 for parents and guardians. This is a valuable opportunity for families to engage with learning area leaders, ask specific questions, and gain a deeper understanding of the subjects on offer.
We encourage all Year 10 students and their families to take advantage of this informative event. We look forward to seeing you there and assisting you in making the best choices for your educational journey.
Parent / Teacher / Student Interviews
As we did for the first-time last year, this year our Term 3 Parent Teacher Interviews have been brought forward to week 6. Interviews for all students will take place on Thursday 22nd August. This brings all our interviews in line rather than splitting the year 12’s and the rest of the school, as has been done in the past. Parents can book these interviews via Compass. The booking portal will open Monday 12th August at 9am. These interviews work best when the student is present and can engage in the feedback about their learning.
Gym Flooring
I am excited to announce that the works on our new gym floor have been completed. This significant upgrade was celebrated with a school assembly yesterday, where many of the students could be heard saying how good the new floor looked.
Providing such a resource is a testament to our commitment to offering the best facilities for our students. The new gym floor is not only a practical improvement but something the students now get to use with a sense of pride. Our students now have a top-notch space for physical education and sports activities that meets their needs.
Senior Girls Hockey
Our senior girls' hockey team has delivered an outstanding performance at the Western Zone competition earlier this week, showcasing their skill, determination, and teamwork. Their dominant display has earned them a well-deserved spot in the state finals later this term.
Who knows? Perhaps we are witnessing the rise of the next crop of Hockeyroos! We wish the team the very best of luck in the upcoming matches.
School planning 2025
The school is currently planning for the 2025 school year. If you are aware that your son/daughter is not returning to the school for the 2025 (Year 12’s excluded) could you contact the school and leave a message with one of our Assistant Principals.
