School Council News

School Council met this week, on the 23rd of July, with a quorum in attendance.

We had the opportunity to hear from Mat on the preparation for the 2025 prep intake of students, and the supporting analysis and workforce planning that is required.

The new junior quad area has also been completed over the last break and is a superb space that compliments the school environment, and as we head into the warmer months the area will be utilised more with increased seating and over time will provide greater shade for students. It is one of the tangible benefits that was borne from the school community’s hard work from last years Seaside fair.

Work continues with the proposal for the Capital works project for the junior toilet redevelopment. The project that would cost approximately $160,000 and an outcome of the application is expected in September. If the grant was successful, it would allow the funds that have been raised to be utilised on other school grounds projects - a big shout out to Mat for his ongoing tenacity and determination on funding these major projects.

There will be an upcoming Friends of Willy Principal Q&A with Mat. Please ensure to get along and hear about a range of topics and you will have the opportunity to ask him questions on topics that are presented.

The Council approved a new ‘Fundraising Policy’ which will be published on the School’s website soon, this details all of the requirements that must be followed for any fundraising activity, please feel free to review. We also had a report back on the uniform survey, with 31 responses (~ 7% of families responded) and much valuable feedback coming in. The team have taken this feedback, and consolidated the key points, with Lisa, Puhie and Mat to meet with supplier early Term 3 to discuss options that may be available to improve the uniform.

The Council was also advised that the NAPLAN data will be made available to the ED-Pol committee in August for review and this will be reviewed and discussed at next Council meeting.

The next School Council meeting will be held on the 20th of August.
