Grade 2
Initialit:
Over the last few weeks, we have been learning a lot about prefixes and suffixes. We learned that prefixes are groups of letters that go at the beginning of a word and change its meaning. Whereas, suffices are groups of letters that go at the end of a word. We have looked at inferring during our Comprehension & Fluency lessons. We have learned that we need to use clues from the text and what we already know to make an inference.
Maths:
During our Mathematics sessions we have looked at shapes. We learned about different types of lines, including curved and straight lines and how to use these to identify the shape. We have also learned about parallel lines and opposite lines. Next week we are starting our unit on number patterns.
Writing:
This week we continued our work on narrative adaptations. We have written stories about the Goldilocks & the three bears, Cinderella and the three little pigs. We are going to start learning how to write information reports soon and look at the difference between a fact and an opinion.
