Sport

Mr. Churchyard and Ms. Hardy

In a remarkable display of school spirit and athletic excellence, Cranbourne East Secondary College has achieved its most successful year in sports in 2024, with 86 teams competing across Term 1 to 3 in the School Sport Victoria Inter-School competitions. This effort marked the largest participation of any school in the Casey South Division.

Throughout the year, the school awarded a total of 2,080 Sport and Recreation RGAR points across various sporting events, underscoring the growing involvement and passion for sport among the student body. In particular, the Term 1 athletics carnival was a standout, drawing over 500 students to compete in at least one event. With over 1,600 students attending the carnival, the event has become a symbol of inclusivity, teamwork, and a shared spirit of fun. Our 2025 athletics carnival will kick off sport in the new year taking place on Thursday February 20th, 2025.

2024 has also been a banner year for track and field at Cranbourne East Secondary College. The school sent 25 athletes to the division championships, with 18 qualifying for the regional level, and four advancing to the Victorian State Championships. Among them were Year 7's Billie Greyling and Year 9's Keerat Dhody, both of whom brought home state championship medals for Javelin (2nd and 3rd place respectively). Their impressive performances are a testament to their dedication and hard work outside the school setting. Both athletes are now on the radar for future sporting excellence, with high hopes for their continued success in 2025.

In team sports, the Year 7 netball team proved to be the school's top performers, narrowly missing out on the state championships by just two points. Their outstanding effort throughout Term 2 and 3 highlighted the competitive spirit and teamwork fostered within the school's sporting culture.

The success of these young athletes would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of the school’s teachers, who volunteered countless hours to coach, mentor, and inspire students to push their limits and embrace new challenges. Their unwavering support and belief in every student’s potential have been instrumental in creating an environment where students can thrive and achieve their best.

As the year draws to a close, Cranbourne East Secondary College reflects on its achievements with pride and looks ahead to even greater success in 2025. The school community is excited to see what the future holds for these talented athletes and the next generation of sports stars.
