Dear parents
It has been nice to see some sunshine recently and students have appreciated being able to play outside every day.
As you would be aware, last Monday swimming lessons were cancelled. Please note that this was because relevant buses had not been booked by the swim centre. This matter has been rectified and lessons will continue next week. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
As from next Monday, students will not be able to take food outside on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. All classes are given time to eat their lunch and snacks while inside. Prep - 2 classes are given extra time and staff have observed a large amount of rubbish and lunch boxes being left in the Village Green. Please talk to your child about the importance of using the eating time efficiently. On Tuesdays and Thursdays students have specialist classes. On these days they may take unfinished lunch outside as not all classes get the extra eating time.
Last Friday evening a number of parents enjoyed the Sip and Paint fundraiser orgainised by the Parents' Association.
Check out the attached link for more photos.
Students have been working very hard with Cathy to rehearse for our concert taking place next Term on October 23. They are becoming very familar with the choreography and music.
Please be reminded that there are only 3 weeks left to complete the Reading Challenge. The closing date is Thursday, 29th August 2024. If your child has not yet recorded any of the books they have read, please complete this task online ASAP so that we can verify the books that have been read. Any books recorded after the closing date will not be verified and counted towards the total records. When your child has completed the Challenge, please check the details are correct including the spelling of their name (how you want your child’s name to be printed on the certificate). If your child has already finished the Challenge, they still can add more books to their reading list for up to 100 books!
Only children who have successfully completed the Challenge will receive a certificate.
Thank you to Fransisca for again organising the Reading Challenge. If you have any further queries, please email fransisca.tunas@scsyndal.catholic.edu.au
Traffic Safety
When leaving Doon Ave, some parents are turning right onto Blackburn Road after drop off or pick up. At this time, this is not only illegal but extremely dangerous. Furthermore, this holds up other parents trying to exit Doon Ave. All parents must turn left into Blackburn Road during these peak times.
The Australian Girl's Choir will conduct a workshop at St Christopher's next Tuesday. If you would like your daughter to participate, please return the form sent home or register at
https://ausgirlschoir.com.au/schoolworkshop/
Please note that there will not be an assembly tomorrow. Please join us next Friday if you can at 3pm.
If you have any concerns regarding your child's learning or wellbeing, please contact their teacher or myself.
Regards
