1/2 News…
In 1/2, we have had a lot of fun looking at two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) shapes!
We had a great time looking at both types of shapes, and learnt all about how many edges and vertices all shapes have. We then expanded our knowledge by counting and catergorising the different faces of 3D shapes. We even got the chance to build some 3D shapes! We explored using nets to build different 3D shapes and put our knowledge of their faces, edges and vertices to the test!
It was at the point that a brilliant idea dawned on us all; shapes aren't just in the textbooks. They are actually everywhere, all around us! We see triangles and pyramids in our cats' ears, circles and cylinders for the wheels of trains, and rectangles and cubes in our windows and houses!
As a show of our brilliant understanding of the many different regular and irregular polygons, we finished our unit by creating some wild and wacky shape robots! Have a look and enjoy!
