Principals' Message
Mrs Larissa Vesdrevanis Principal Mrs Michelle Rassias Assistant Principal
On Monday July 29th Mrs Rassias and I attended the State Education Conference.
The theme of the conference was Leading together: inspire, learn, network. There was a strong focus on the latest research on teaching and learning and this is represented in the new Victorian Teaching and Learning Model, please see diagram below. I am pleased to say that at Donvale Primary School our school philosophy, teaching pedagogy and commitment by our staff aligns with this model. We have been prioritising differentiated teaching and learning for many years along with a strong emphasis on community, student wellbeing, engagement, care and connection with our dedicated teachers and leaders, thereby supporting our students to strive for their personal best and achieve success. We will continue to embed our practices and develop our expertise.
Parent Survey Reminder- Open from Monday July 29th till August 30th
Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey and is seeking your feedback. The survey opened is now Open. Last Friday I sent out a Compass newsfeed with login in details. Another newsfeed will go out with the publication of Snippets this week so that families can login to complete the survey. Given that our newsletter is published on our website which can be accessed by the public I am not able to provide details here.
The survey, offered by the Department of Education, is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. Your opinions are important to us and will contribute to identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies. The department will use the results from the survey for research purposes and to improve outcomes for students. The survey will be conducted online and only takes 20 minutes to complete. It can be completed on any internet enabled device (desktop computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone) and is compatible with most browsers. The survey is available in English and 10 other languages: Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese.
We thank you in advance for your participation.
Uniting Services
As many of you know we are in partnership with Uniting Services, who provide a Family Wellbeing program. The aim of the program is to provide short-term intervention which
can include parenting support, NDIS linkages, advocacy, along with discussing what other services/supports are available to support families.
Brogan Cooper has taken over this role from Michelle Leek and we warmly welcome Brogan to our school. Should you fell that you require some support, or would like some further information, please feel free to contact your classroom teacher or Michelle Rassias who can then pass on relevant details to Brogan.
Finally, we are looking forward to House Athletics next week, which will be for all our Grade 3-6 students. This year the House Athletics will be at a different venue - Box Hill Athletics Track, Barwon Street, Box Hill.
