From the Music Room

Mrs Keep

This term our Foundation students are getting ready to perform at their 100 days celebration with a song called "Cheer for 100"!  They will also be learning more about Tempo, Pitch and Dynamics.

Our 1/2 students are improving their reading of music rhythms and discovering more about the Italian words for soft (piano) and loud (forte).

Year 3/4 classes are learning (grade 3) and developing (grade 4) their skills at playing the ukulele and changing between chords smoothly to accompany songs.

Year 5/6 students have had fun with drama activities. They are also learning a number of new ukulele chords and improving their skills at reading strumming patterns. Later this term they will present songs in groups to their peers.

The whole school is learning two versions of the song "Shorty Creek" - one in English and one in Kriol. We are discovering more about the Indigenous communities in Northern Australia and are hoping to raise funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

In week 6 families will have the opportunity to make a gold coin donation which will be sent to the ILF.

We hope you can come to hear everyone sing this lovely song at assembly on Friday August 23.
