Potato Olympics
On Monday the 5th of August, we held the TPS Potato Olympics! We were sorted into seven cross age groups to rotate around in our activities. For the first two hours we did art and crafts activities. In one of the classrooms, we decorated our potatoes. It was our favourite activity. Some of the other activities were making a team name and a poster, a flag, a team mascot, painting Olympic rings, fingerprint athletes and building Olympic torches. They were all so fun!
Once those two hours were over we had recess. Then we had the potato athletics where we competed in potato lawn bowls, potato shot put, potato hurdles, potato relays, potato three legged races and potato sack races. Our favourite was the potato hurdles and the potato three legged race. After lunch we had a house captains vs teachers potato relay. In it were the house captains with Finlay, Deakin and O’dea with Curr vs the teachers. The teachers running were Josh, Meg, Miss B and Miss Young. Can you believe the students won? They never looked in doubt and were true Olympic champions. Then we had our closing ceremony to end the Potato Olympics. It was a great day!
Thank you to all of our amazing teachers for their hard work in making the day fun.

GTS Visit
On Thursday morning Ricky, Lucas, Kane and Kayden went to GTS with Mr Hogan. When we got there, we saw Pip, Kat, Paige and Tugger. Ricky and Kayden were given the job to put the prices on the shelves. Lucas and Kane swept the cow poo, soil, chicken poo and dirt. Kayne and Lucas moved the dog food and cat food to where they were supposed to go and we all moved the concrete bags. After we finished, Ricky went to the post office and picked up a package with Pip then they went to Tonny Takeaway and got four hot chocolates with marshmallows for all of us. When Ricky got back all of us moved the tools onto the shelves that had got stolen. Then we laminated the prices for the gardening area outside. After that we thanked everyone at GTS and walked back to school with Mr Hogan. Lucas spilled a little bit of his hot chocolate on the way back. Thank you very much Mr Hogan and GTS for letting us do all of this.

Girls Netball
On Thursday morning all the girls met up in Swan Hill to play netball against other schools in our region. We played Mildura, Strathfieldsaye then St Augustines. Shot after shot, we won all of our games. Everyone was so proud! Bella played WD, Ella played in shooter sharing it with Tilly and Ruby. Ivy played mid court, Mia and asha played in defence and Summer and Tahlia mainly were subs but still played a lot. Then the finals were announced… WE GOT IN! We were all full of joy and very excited but also worried as we were playing St Francis and we had heard really good things about them. The game started and we were going pretty well until the second quarter. We started to lose hope. It was getting tough and people were being aggressive. The siren went off and we had been beaten. We tried our best but were defeated. All of us were so proud of ourselves and we are so thankful to Meg, Mrs Hollyman and Ruby's mum for taking us.

Boys 2 the Bush
Last Thursday, for the Boys to the Bush, all the grade six boys were picked up at 8:45. We went straight to the Boys to the Bush, Boys Shed and played there for about 30 minutes. Then after that we went to Gravity Shack in Echuca for an hour. It was so much fun bouncing on the trampolines and we played a huge game of hide and seek tag in the playground. When we were done at Gravity Shack, we started driving to Gunbower. When we got to Gunbower, we got a little bit lost but we found the place. We were at the cod farm. We were all so excited. When we got out the bus, the owners started telling us how they made the cod farm and how it works. After they showed us how it works, they showed us eight nets that had heaps of cod in them, from smallest to biggest. There were about 35,000 cod at the farm. It was so cool because when he put the net in the water to scoop some up and show us, he picked up like 20 at a time. Then after he showed us all the cool stuff, we got to fishing. The fish that we were fishing were all Murray cod that were sick or that were injured and they took them out the nets and put them in the lake. The lake was 70 metres by 70 metres and holds 12 million litres of water. While fishing we caught three fish. The first fish we caught was a small one and our Boys to The Bush leader caught it. Then the next fish we caught was too small. We caught our last fish and it was a big one! After that we said thank you to the owners and we were on our way back to school. It was such a good day with Boys to the Bush. I can’t wait for our next one.
