Book Week

Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are pleased to announce our upcoming Book Week celebrations this month.
Book Week is a celebration of Australian authors, illustrators and publishers that help bring words, images and stories into the hearts and minds of children and adults.
This year, Book Week will take place from 17th – 23rd August.
Our school is fortunate enough to have the well-known illustrator Ben Woods visit us and give us an insight into the practices of professional illustrators.
Throughout the week students will engage in a range of creative literacy activities based around the book titles that have been shortlisted for awards this year.
On the day of our illustrator’s visit (Thursday, 22nd August), we ask that the children come to school dressed as their favourite fictional book character.
You don’t need to rush out and purchase an expensive costume – there are a great many fabulous ideas available through Google and Pinterest.
This year’s theme is “Reading is Magic”, so if you are struggling for ideas, why not dress as something magical?
As always, thank you for your continued support. Book Week will be a very exciting week and a great way to celebrate our love of books.

Coming to your School on August 22nd; Ben Wood
The Younger Sun is excited to give the school community the opportunity to purchase books by this great illustrator.
How do I do this? Simply follow the links to our website as provided below, place your orders 2 weeks before the event for which we have also noted the relevant dates as a reminder. All of the books will be delivered to your school!
What Information do you need to provide? In the Notes section please provide the name of your School, the child’s name and the class.
But what Method of delivery do I choose? Please choose Click and Collect. Do not worry, you will not be expected to Click and Collect. We will make sure your ordered books are delivered to the school as long as you fill in the Notes section with the information requested above.
