Acting Principal's Message

Thank you St Andrew's Community!

Dear Families,

Last week marked another busy week in the school calendar.

We had our Year 3-6 Athletics- thank you to Kayla Puetz, the teachers from 3-6 and the amazing parent volunteers who made the day run so smoothly. It was a wonderful day and Kayla Puetz will keep us updated with there successful athletes moving on to the District Athletics.

A huge thank you to the Parents and Friends committee for the wonderful Family Movie Night they held on Friday- it was a huge success! Families enjoyed watching Despicable Me and eating freshly cooked popcorn! A special thanks to Helena Thompson for her organisation.

On Monday the Preps celebrated 100 days of school! What a wonderful occasion to mark. They enjoyed a visit from farm animals and a shared lunch with families, as well as some delicious cake. Congratulations to our Prep children, and their families, for getting through the first 100 days of school! Well done to our remarkable Prep teachers, Holly Capomolla and Rose Restaino for all their hard work, not only on the 100 days, but every day they work with out beautiful little preppies!

5/6 Swimming

Today marks the last day of swimming for 5/6 students. Well done to all those who participated in the program at Aquastar! Thank you teachers, LSOs and Kayla Puetz for all your hard work around the swimming.

PRINCIPAL APPOINTMENT PROGRESS

Dear Parents,

The Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) advertising for a new Principal has begun this week. The Principal Selection Process panel will work through a MACS specially designed selection process to provide advice for the MACS Regional General Manager as to who is the best applicant to lead your school into the future.

The panel consists of:

  • Parish Priest – Father Joseph Shibu
  • MACS Executive Director's Nominee (EDN)
  • Senior Manager School Leadership  - Jennifer Hawkins
  • an experienced, current Primary Principal – Christina Ferguson, St. Elizabeth’s school Dandenong North
  • School Advisory Council parent - Alan O’Brien
  • School Parent - Carice D’Rozario

Our school staff and School Advisory members met with the EDN to provide their insights into the knowledge, skills and expertise of a new principal. It's a highly confidential and thorough process that will see a new principal being appointed to our school for 2025. The position will be advertised widely. It is not uncommon that the position is re-advertised eg. not enough applicants applied or applicants didn’t meet the specific requirements as per the process guidelines. The Principal Selection Panel will work its way through the various steps of the process.

We pray for the panel in all their deliberations and may the Holy Spirit guide their discernment and enrich their discussions. We do ask that you and your family pray for the panel and for the right applicants to apply.

St Andrew, pray for us.
