Ryan’s Rambling

Dear Families,
I hope you have all had a fantastic week. Our students have been busily locking in to their learning despite the pressures associated with hot weather. We are very proud of their resilience and commitment to learning.
We were thrilled to have spent part of this week with our consultant Andrea Hillbrick. Teams spent time working on further improving the teaching and learning of Numeracy, and have come away incredibly motivated and excited about our Maths program for this term. Andrea will be supporting the implementation and application of our Numeracy Instructional model, which we are hoping to launch across the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned for more information regarding this.
Next week, our Grade 5/6 students will be heading to Campy Wyuna in Queenscliff. I am excited to be accompanying them, and am confident that the 5/6 Team have prepared a fun and inclusive camp for all our students. The weather is looking very favourable for us all.
Our Student Leadership Group have begun their Leadership training this week, participating in a number of developmental activities across today. I must say I think we have some future community leaders in our midst. I look forward to seeing how our Student Leaders can shape our school for the 2025 year.
Ensuring the safety and well-being of all of our students at all times is central to our school’s operations. Given this commitment, it is important to remind you that the Department of Education and Dana Street Primary School do not provide personal accident insurance for students. Parents and guardians are responsible for paying the cost of medical treatment for injured students, including any transport costs. In the event of an emergency, we need to make sure that we prioritise the immediate care of our students and will call an ambulance if deemed necessary. If you are not part of some sort of ambulance cover, it may be worth considering this for peace of mind.
Our school is committed to the safety of all children. We actively promote the safety and wellbeing of all students, and all school staff are committed to protecting students from abuse or harm, in accordance with their legal obligations including child safe standards. All of our Child Safety documents are on our website and available at the school. Please see me if you have any questions or concerns about Child Safety and/ or our practices.
I do hope that the transition back to school has been a smooth one for you and your families.
Have a fantastic weekend.
Ryan 😊
