PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

MRS MICHELLE HAEUSLER - PRINCIPAL

Summer officially concludes today as we transition into Autumn. While daylight hours may begin to decrease, we can expect temperatures to remain above 30°C for a few more weeks. I believe that incorporating a hat and sunscreen into my daily routine will continue to be essential. We are fortunate to reside in an area that enjoys beautiful sunny days for most of the year.

Our Year 7 students have had a wonderful experience at Roses Gap, and I am confident they will return home with numerous stories and memorable experiences to share. I would like to express my gratitude to Mr. Hirst for his organisation of the camp and to the following staff members for their support of our students: Scott Anderson, Diana Cetina, Tanya Farrell, Jorgen Leschke, Jesse McDonald, Nichola Miliano, Nicole Venter, Gemma Phelan, Kylie Andrews, Hayley Brasser, and Katrina Croskery.

Please note that Friday, March 7th, will be a student-free day, during which staff will engage in a professional learning day in collaboration with St Mary’s Swan Hill and St Mary’s Sea Lake. On this day, English and Mathematics teachers from Year 5 to Year 8 will participate in discussions regarding teaching practices. Additionally, all teachers will have valuable time to update the curriculum and learn about the Science of Learning from presenter Tisha Jha from the Centre for Independent Studies.

Wednesday, March 5th, marks Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent in the Catholic Church. This is an important Christian observance that encourages reflection on our relationship with God. Traditionally, individuals may choose to give something up during this period; however, it can also be a time for giving to others. All staff and students will participate in an Ash Wednesday liturgy on March 5th, where we are invited to receive ashes and embrace the call to turn away from sin and remain faithful to the Gospels.
