Home Reading
Just a friendly reminder that your childs red reader bag and home reading diary need to come to school everyday.
We encourage you to read to your child each night and record this in the home reading diary in the space provided.
Please keep an eye out for when the activity pages have been ticked by the teacher and can be completed by your child.
Some helpful information from InitaLit
How should I use the InitiaLit–F Home Reading Diary?
Each term your child will be given a new InitiaLit–F Home Reading Diary. Each Home Reading Diary contains helpful information about reading with your child. These instructions will help you to engage your child with the book, keep a record of what your child has read and which books you have read to your child.
We appreciate your partnership with supporting your child's home reading journey.
Stayback
What a fantastic time the Foundation students had at their Stayback in Week 4. Although it was a hot and windy afternoon the students enjoyed a delicious afternoon snack, a play on the playground and some fun team games on the undercover court area.
Years 1 and 2
Throughout the term, students in Years 1 and 2 have been solidifying their new routines in their learning spaces and they have been doing a fabulous job of preparing and entering the classroom each day.
In Literacy, students have been enjoying learning new digraphs to apply in reading, writing and spelling. They have focused on handwriting practice each morning. Students are actively engaging during the short story texts by questioning, discussing and analysing the characters and events.
In Maths, Year 1 students have been practicing counting forwards and backwards from 100 and making 2 digit numbers using tens frames.
Year 2 students have applied their understanding of place value to expand 3 digit numbers. They are now focusing on how to tell the time using an analogue clock.
The Year 1 Stayback was a very successful event on our calendar. Students enjoyed their afternoon tea, with the icy poles being a highlight. The students were very happy free playing on the playground together.
Years 3 and 4
In Years 3 and 4, our students have been exploring the concept of Healthy Living as part of their Inquiry lessons. They’ve learned how to organise a healthy lunchbox to fuel their bodies for optimal learning throughout the day. The students have gained a deeper understanding of the importance of carbohydrates, protein and fats, as well as making appropriate drink choices for good health. One of the biggest surprises for them was discovering just how much sugar is found in popular drinks such as Coke, fruit juices and flavoured milks.
In Religious Education, we’ve also begun our journey into Lent. To symbolise our growth during this season, students participated in planting seeds, hoping they will germinate into beautiful Sweet Pea flowers. This activity has provided a meaningful way to reflect on personal growth and renewal during Lent. Last week all students presented a prayer of blessing, sorrow or gratitude in the form of a google slide. Well done everyone on your efforts!
