We have had a busy few weeks to kick off the 2025 school year! It has been wonderful to see our students settling into the school community. The introduction of Knowledge Society’s Classroom Mastery Entry, Exit and Cue to Start routines is helping our staff create consistently productive, safe and calm learning environments. We will soon begin the next phase of this program, which includes coaching for teachers on our classroom norms, routines and rules. We look forward to this collaboration to ensure that the Classroom Mastery routines are consistently upheld across the College.
We are thrilled to announce Alannah McLatchey as our leader for Mental Health in Primary Schools (MHiPS). This initiative will enhance students' and teachers' ability to support mental health and wellbeing in schools. A recent evaluation of the MHiPS pilot program showed improvements in the mental health and literacy of teachers, parents, children and schools. We eagerly anticipate Alannah's valuable insights and knowledge in this role.
Attendance - Every day counts
We appreciate your support in ensuring students arrive in their TA class by 8.50 am each school day.
CES Limited promotes satisfactory school attendance is between 95% and 100%. Consistent attendance is both an expectation and a right for every student. At St Aug’s, most students attend school regularly, which helps them develop social, academic and emotional skills. We understand that arriving at school on time daily is essential for effective learning. Students who attend school daily benefit from the support and assistance of their teachers and are much more likely to make progress in their education.
It’s also important for students to be prepared to start their day alongside their peers. Being ready to begin the school day with classmates fosters a thriving learning environment and promotes a sense of calm in our young people.
Parents and guardians are responsible for ensuring that their children attend school daily unless they are unwell. In the event of illness, parents/guardians must notify the school. Parents and guardians should contact the school before the start of the day to explain their child’s absence, late arrival or early departure, using one of the following methods:
Leave a message on the school’s voicemail.
Log onto PAM to record absences and the reasons for them on the day of the absence.
Call reception after 8.30 am on school days.
Uniform Updates/Reminder
Sock update: Members of the Advisory Council have approved a change to our school uniform guidelines. Starting Wednesday 12th March, students may wear plain white or navy socks. This adjustment aims to help families who have faced challenges in sourcing navy socks, while ensuring all students maintain a neat uniform appearance. Please keep in mind that socks with logos are not permitted, as they will be considered out of uniform.
Non-PE Days: Some students have been wearing PE shorts and sneakers on non-PE days. Please remember that students must wear polishable black shoes and academic uniforms on the days they do not have PE.
If your child cannot wear the correct uniform, kindly send a note to their TA explaining why and when they will return to the correct uniform. Students will be advised to attend a uniform detention when they are out of uniform and no note is provided.
Warm regards,
