Ethical Student Leaders Day

Our Year 12 Student Leaders were excited to be a part of the Catholic Education Sandhurst Ltd (CESL) Leadership Workshop for School Captains/Leaders. It was an opportunity to enhance common expectations, share information and enable further connection between schools.

The focus of the day was to help students gain a deeper understanding and practical application of ‘ethical and servant leadership’ which they can bring to their leadership practice both at school and in the wider community. It included an address by Executive Director of CESL Kate Fogarty speaking about the changes Magnify Sandhurst expects, and how they can play a role in supporting their school leaders to embed these important changes.

Thank you to CESL and all involved in making this wonderful day and opportunity happen! Thank you to our wonderful Year 12 Leaders, Mrs Downie and Mr Campbell for their efforts with this!

Shrove Tuesday

It was a joyous morning of pancakes, hospitality and community for Shrove Tuesday! As we launched our fundraising and awareness efforts for Caritas and Project Compassion 2025, our wonderful School Leaders and staff provided delicious pancakes with cinnamon sugar, maple syrup, butter and jam.

We are excited to share that we raised $408.95 for Caritas’ Project Compassion! Thank you so much to our students, families and school community for their generosity, enthusiasm and participation.

Ash Wednesday

We marked the beginning of the Church’s season of Lent with our Ash Wednesday Liturgy. The marking of ashes on our foreheads is a public expression of our faith and humility. It is a time of prayer, fasting and almsgiving.

By doing this, we are reminded of Jesus’ death and resurrection. Jesus brought the promise of hope to all people so that we may “have life and have it to the full” (John 10:10). Lent prepares us for the season of Easter.

Thank you to our College Leaders for their efforts in delivering our Liturgy. We have continued our focus on Project Compassion 2025, and how we can continue to put our faith and compassion into action.

Please note that each TA has their own Project Compassion donation box, thank you for your donations and generosity.

We will also be having an Easter Raffle for Project Compassion and ask that each family please bring an Easter egg for this.

Thank you!

ECSI Conference

I was privileged to attend the ECSI (Enhancing Catholic School identity) Conference in Bendigo. It was a wonderful opportunity to engage with the work of Dr Didier Pollefeyt and Jan Bowers from Ku Leuven, Belgium. It was an amazing learning experience.

Blessed, Broken and Shared Formation Program

Staff have been participating in the Blessed, Broken and Shared Formation Program provided by CESL. Our sessions so far have focused on ‘Unpacking Jubilee 2025’, ‘Source of Life Curriculum and Shared Christian Praxis’ and ‘The Spirituality of Lent’.

Years 5, 6 and 9 Liturgy

On Thursday 27th February we had our Year 5, 6 and 9 Liturgy. We focused on our theme of the 'World Day of Social Justice' which is a day that calls us to reflect on God’s deep desire for justice, peace and dignity for all His children. As followers of Christ, we are reminded of His mission to bring good news to the poor, to set the oppressed free and to build a world of compassion and equity.

In a world where many face inequality, poverty, and exclusion, we are called to be instruments of God’s love - promoting justice in our families, workplaces and communities. Let us open our hearts to God’s Word and renew our commitment to walk humbly, love mercy and act justly.

God of goodness and mercy,

Hear our prayer as we begin this Lenten journey with you.

Let us be honest with ourselves as we look into our hearts and souls,

noticing the times we may turn away from you.

Guide us as we humbly seek to repent and return to your love.

May humility guide our efforts to be reconciled with you and live forever in

your abundant grace. Transform us this Lent, heavenly Father.

Give us the strength and grace to be of service to those who need it this Lent.

Amen.
