Upper Primary Learning

UPA
The first term of 2025 has gone by so fast. We started the term off with our 'Start Up' program, getting to know each other and our new classroom.
UPA students were very excited to explore the new campus and look at where their new specialist classes will be.
We went on a tour of the school and met lots of new staff and even got to explore the new playgrounds. We then familiarised ourselves with the School Expectations and practised our classroom routines and expectations.
We kicked off our learning with the discovery unit focussing on the human body, exploring our questions through language experiences and general activities.
UPA students so far have really enjoyed the discovery unit and have been able to investigate the different functions of the body.
We look forward to building more positive connections and striving to achieve our personal best in Term 2.
UPB
UPB started the year with lots of fun activities to learn about each other and routines around the class and the school.
We explored the play area and discussed the rules to be safe and respectful when interacting with others.
We have formed great connections within the class through hands-on activities and group games.
Another main focus is to understand our body parts and body cues through our Discovery Unit and Social Competency.
Students enjoyed sharing their knowledge and investigating new concepts.
UPC
UPC have had a stellar start to their 2025 school year!
We have worked super hard on settling everyone in and getting to know their new classmates and teachers.
We have developed a Class Agreement around the Concord Expectations, and work hard to live up to our values every day.
We have such a fantastic bunch of students in UPC, and can’t wait to see what Term Two has in store for us!
UPD
It has been a busy and productive first term in UPD, full of learning opportunities and authentic experiences. The students have thoroughly enjoyed the many language experiences that have provided a context for oral language and writing activities.
The students began the year with activities to get to know one another and to work as a team. They enjoyed playing some old-fashioned games together such as quoits and bowling.
The focus of our Discovery Unit has been learning about the body. The students have focused on learning about the internal organs such as the lungs and the brain. The students made a working model of the lungs and explored the different parts of the brain and their particular function, such as participating in memory games, movement activities and decision-making scenarios.
In Maths, the students have developed their skills in the area of Counting and Place Value.
During Social Competencies the students have focused on understanding their own body signals and their readiness to learn each day.
We have discussed the Student Expectations and followed daily routines and schedules.
Thank you to all the students for a great start to the year!
UPE
As Term 1 comes to a close, it’s a great time to reflect on the achievements and growth of all students in UPE. From exciting classroom projects where students have begun to learn all about the human body, to extracurricular activities such as grade 6 camp, students have shown dedication and enthusiasm in their learning.
We’ve welcomed new faces, embraced our classroom routines, and celebrated successes, big and small. Whether it was through academic progress, teamwork, or participation in school events, Term 1 has set a strong foundation for the year ahead.
As we head into the next term, we look forward to building on these experiences and continuing to strive to give our personal best.
UPF
UPF has quickly become a class full of respectful, responsible, and kind students who strive each day to be their best.
They approach all learning tasks with dedication and enjoy the rewards of picnicking together or playing at local parks.
Their positive attitude and teamwork make UPF a fantastic place to learn and grow!
UPG
Term 1, what an amazing start to the year!
UPG has thrived in settling into a new year with a new teacher and classroom. It has been great to see students connecting with each other inside the classroom and on the yard.
This term, students have been having a lot of fun learning about the human body. UPG were especially intrigued about the organs within our body and how they function. Due to this interest, students have further investigated internal organs through hands-on experiences, such as making a working model of lungs.
It has been such a positive term and I am looking forward to watching the continuous academic and social growth of UPG students this year.
UPH
Term 1 has marked a busy return to Concord School for 2025. As quick as this term has come to an end, it’s now time to reflect upon all the great things that have happened across the Term. UPH students have enjoyed engaging in learning about the human body, in particular learning about the human brain in Weeks 7 and 8. Who knew the brain had over 100 billion neurons?!
UPH students have continued to show enthusiasm in their learning, as well as getting to know each other and building some new connections. UPH students have given their best efforts in their Hartley Handwriting and Little Learners Love Literacy Programs each morning.
A huge aim for UPH for Term 1 was developing predictable routines and creating a positive space for learning and the students have been able to do that successfully.
Term 2 promises to be exciting and filled with opportunities to build on these experiences and continue to give our personal best each week.
Enjoy the holiday break UPH!
