CHILDREN CHATTER MATTERS

Building Pragmatics and Social communication skills.

Recognising facial expressions, it is difficult to recognise emotions within ourselves, the next step after this is to recognise it in others. One way we do this is by reading facial expressions (body language, tone of voice, spoken words; are other ways to recognise emotions in others). In the first wordwall activity your child needs to identify the facial expression and choose the correct answer. In the second wordwall activity it is focusing on actions creating feelings (e.g. I feel sad when I watch a sad movie).

Inferencing

Inferencing refers to the skills of listening to information and making conclusions based on the details presented. It's the ability to know and understand that you should turn on the heater when i say ‘Brr its really cold in here’. We require this skill for listening and for reading. The first word wall activity will require parents to read responses for younger students - it's about making conclusions on where they are visiting. The second wordwall activity (for younger students will require an adult to read text for them) focuses on inferring facial expressions linked to feelings (e.g. steam blew from his ears - angry).
