Student Support Group (SSG) Meetings

Next week is our SSG meeting week. These meetings provide parents/carers with an opportunity to meet with your child's classroom teacher to discuss all aspects of your child's schooling. At the first meeting of the year, discussions help to inform each student's educational goals for the first semester. School based therapists may also participate in these meetings. You are also welcome to invite external therapists to attend the meeting. A reminder that you also need to complete a Release of Information form giving your consent if you want school staff to have further communication with external therapists about your child. These forms are available from the main office. Please let your child's teacher know if you are inviting external therapists or services to attend the SSG meeting.

This year we are introducing a new student support document.  This is called the Personal Hygiene Learning and Support Plan. Teachers will develop this together with you. This document will provide clear information about the supports your child needs with toileting, dressing and showering. This will provide valuable information to help ensure your child receives the supports they need as well as working to build their independence with these skills. We hope that this will also assist parents/carers to feel clear about the supports that your child is receiving at school with their personal care.

Teachers will begin working through this document in the SSG meetings with you. It may require some further discussions to complete all of the information.

A copy of this plan is attached below so you know what information will be covered in the plan.

Student Participation in SSG Meetings

At Croydon SDS, we believe that it is important to involve our students (where possible) in their SSG meetings. This provides students with an opportunity to have input into their goals and share their learning with their parents/carers. Some students have begun attending the meetings in person and for some students, teachers will share work samples and photos of their learning participation.

We look forward to seeing as many families as possible for the meetings next week. If you are unable to attend a meeting next week, please contact your child's teacher to make another time.  Remember you can book a meeting time through Compass. If you need help with this, please contact the main office.

We value working in partnership with you to support your child's learning and development.
