Who can believe that we are already at the end week 4 of term 1, 2025! While the first few weeks of the school year have flown, they have been productive and positive weeks. Our Primary 1 classes, with many new foundations students are establishing good routines for transitioning around the school, learning and playing. Other students have re-engaged smoothly to their learning schedules and programs.
It was wonderful to have so many families join us for the Meet the Classroom Team and Welcome BBQ last week. Staff enjoyed meeting many of you and look forward to working in partnership with you this year.
Croydon SDS collects and uses student and parent personal information for standard school functions or where permitted by law, as stated in the Schools’ Privacy Policy and the Schools’ Privacy Collection Notice.
Our Photographing, Filming and Recording Students Policy describes how we collect and use photographs, video and recordings of students. The policy also explains when parent consent is required and how it can be provided and withdrawn.
We ask parents to also review the guidance we provide on how we use Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace for Education safely at the school and what parents can do to further protect their child’s information. If after reviewing the guidance, you have any questions or concerns regarding your child using Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace for Education, please contact the school.
For more information about privacy, refer to: Schools’ privacy policy: information for parents.
As many of you have noticed, building works continue in several areas at the front of the school. New paving is being laid to create a new front pedestrian entrance which will lead to the main office and existing buildings. The new pool is looking beautiful in its finishing stages and will soon be filled with water. The old pool site has been filled and the old library is currently being converted into a classroom.
As part of a power upgrade for the new building there will be underground power works conducted in Belmont Road East between Monday 24 and Wednesday 26 February. This will see trucks in the street and some of the footpath dug up. Traffic management will be present to support the traffic flow and ensure safety. Contractors are aware of the school peak times at the start and the end of the school day and will minimise their works during these times.
Our new High Intensity OSHC program run by Interchange Outer East, (IOE) started this week. The program commenced with two students attending throughout the week. Enrolment numbers will grow in the coming weeks, one at a time. Please reach out to IOE if you are interested in enrolling your child in this program.
Last Monday, School Council met for the first time this year which was our final meeting for the end of the school council term. We thanked ed all members for their active participation over the past year and paid a special acknowledgement to parents Cindy and Jen D, and staff member representative, Judith M (Assistant Principal) whose two-year term has ended.
As announced in the last newsletter, we are now calling for nominations to fill the vacant positions on our new school council. Nomination forms can be obtained from the main office.
