Ignite (Junior Youth) and Youth Group Launch
It’s truly exciting to reflect on the launch of our Junior Youth and Youth programmes last Friday evening! As the new year begins, it proved a great opportunity to come together as a community with Golden Grove Lutheran Church, to learn, grow, and support one another in a meaningful way.
The Ignite (Junior Youth program) for Foundation to Year 5, running from 3:45 pm to 5:00 pm on selected Fridays throughout the term, offers a space for our younger ones to engage with each other and explore their faith in a fun, interactive environment. This is a great time for children as they build friendships that will support them through the years.
The Youth program for Years 6 to 12, from 7.15 pm to 9:30 pm, is a crucial space for older youth to deepen their faith, confront the challenges they face, and discover their own identities in Christ. This program not only equips young people with Biblical knowledge but also provides them with a safe, nurturing environment to talk, ask questions, and experience life-changing moments. It’s an important space where they can grow into their purpose.
The launch BBQ was a wonderful chance for Junior Youth, Youth, and their families to gather, share a meal, and connect with each other. It was certainly an event that strengthened our sense of community and reminds us that we are all in this together — as parents, as children, and as a school and church family.
Anniversary of the Apology to the Stolen Generations
On February 13, 2008, Australia made an important step in healing its history. It was the day when then Prime Minister Kevin Rudd made a formal apology to the Stolen Generations, acknowledging the pain and suffering caused to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were forcibly taken from their families. This event was a significant moment in Australia’s history, as it marked a time when the government and the country as a whole recognised the harm done to many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Thank you to Mrs Zadow, our Director of PYP, for her efforts in leading a range of initiatives in this area. It’s proved to be a time to recognise the resilience and strength of Aboriginal people and the ongoing journey toward reconciliation in Australia.
As we look forward, it’s important to remember that reconciliation is not just about one event or one apology; it’s about ongoing understanding, support, and change. We can all play a role by learning about the history and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and working towards a future of equality, respect, and unity.
Volunteering in the School
We appreciate many families giving of their time and expertise to volunteer in the school, whether it be with our school canteen, P & F Events, school camps, GLOW Week or classroom assistance. A reminder to please ensure that your WWCC details are up to date, along with RAHN and VSC training. Further information on our volunteering requirements is available from our website.
TASS Parent Lounge
TASS Parent Lounge is our online parent portal. This is a great way to be able to check that your contact details and your child's medical details are up to date, as well as to be able to view the school calendar.
Please check your email for your login information - and you are most welcome to be in touch with us if you have any queries around the login process.
Pastor - call process
As many of our families would be aware, our previous pastor, Pastor Greg, accepted a call to Faith Lutheran College in Queensland back in November 2023. Our church congregation have formed a 'call committee' to undertake the process of calling, of inviting a new pastor to serve at Golden Grove Lutheran Church and in our school community. Thank you for your ongoing prayers for this process.
