Forgiveness

The centurion replied 'Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word and my servant will be healed' (Matthew 8:8).

In Matthew 8:8, we find a moment of incredible faith, humility, and understanding of Jesus' authority. The story is about a Roman centurion who comes to Jesus asking for healing for his servant. When Jesus offers to come to his home and heal the servant, the centurion responds with a statement of profound insight. He acknowledges that he is unworthy for Jesus to enter his house, yet believes wholeheartedly that Jesus has the power to heal .

This verse calls us to reflect on our own understanding of who Jesus is and what He can do. The centurion’s faith stands out because he recognises Jesus’ authority and power and that His power transcends everything.

The centurion’s faith also teaches us to trust in the power of Jesus' word. His word brings healing, restoration, and life.

In our own lives, when we face challenges, sickness, or brokenness, do we trust in the power of Jesus working in those moments? What a great encouragement that we can  trust that He can speak into our lives and make a difference even when we can’t see the full picture.

Dear God,

Thank You for the example of faith and humility we see in the centurion. Help us to trust in Your authority, knowing that You can bring change and healing to our lives. Give us the humility to recognise our need for You and to approach You with hearts full of trust and faith. May we always rely on the power of Your word, knowing that You are more than able to work miracles in our lives. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Blessings!
