6P - Mrs. Pettigrove

We are well into the swing of things!

We have learned a lot in the Kids ROAR program - please keep an eye out for the Protective Hands and pocket cards coming home with the names of adults children can talk to if they have concerns.

In Maths we have covered a range of strategies to use for addition and subtraction, and started using these to solve worded problems. It's been great to learn about partitioning, using the jump strategy and the vertical algorithms. We feel more confident when solving sums!

In Writing we have revised narrative skills and put these to the test when writing a full piece. We looked into how to create suspense, how to use paragraphs properly, and ways to conclude our texts after the resolution.

Reading has used a range of our Literature Circle texts to do a deep dive into the setting within texts, illustrating important scenes, and making connections to the texts we are reading. It has been impressive to see our students using the texts to find evidence of the time, place and mood of the setting, as well as justify the importance of the scenes they've chosen.

Please keep an eye out for NAPLAN information sent home with Grade 5 students this week

Congratulations to our Achievers!
