Year 10 Geography in Action

On the 17th of February, students attended the nearby Bellbird Dell to participate in fieldwork studying the ongoing land management of our native forests. Students took notes on native flora, human impact such as litter and structures, and activities such as mulching or mowing.

An interesting cross-curricular correlation: a few students in class had attended the dell earlier, for their Duke of Edinburgh class, helping the local council manage the local area through assisting in mulching. This led to a great discussion about geography in action.

Looking to the future: in a few weeks, we will be heading off to the (hopefully) sunny St Kilda beach, to study how our coastal environment is taken care of.
