Principal's Report 

COLLEGE COUNCIL REPORT TUESDAY 18TH FEBRUARY 2025

The council of Vermont Secondary College (VSC) had its first meeting of the year last week. The council approved various reports such as the Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) of 2024, the finance audit report and several policies that were due for its annual revision. 

After years of dreaming and planning the new gym is finally built and will be handed over to the school this month. Council had a tour of the new facility and were duly impressed. If Physical Education wasn’t already one of the favourite courses for many students, it surely will be now.

Besides the council, its subcommittees of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S), VSCCA and Finance also had their first meeting for the year and all recommendations of the finance committee were approved at the council meeting. Two excursions for courses in Years 11 and 12 were also approved. Last year VSC underwent its quadrennial review, and its outcome is the basis for its Strategic Plan for the next 4 years. The school’s leadership team is currently working on writing up the Annual implementation Plan (AIP) for this year and the council will be informed on those plans at the next meeting.

The Council thanks parent council members Patrick Jackson (Vice-President), Kate Norman (treasurer) and Rob Fuller as well as student council members Triyana Kewada, Amelia Ross and Akhila Gollamudi for all their efforts on the council in the last 2 years. Parent council members are elected for a period of 2 years and their time is up and the council student members have finished high school. The council has just advertised the new elections, and it is looking forward to welcoming new members.

2025 COLLEGE COUNCIL - CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

Nominations for the 2025 College Council are now open. Nomination forms can be collected from the General Office or can be emailed on request by contacting Tanya in the General Office on Tanya.Mackenzie@education.vic.gov.au

We have the following vacancies available:

• 3 positions for 2 years for Parent Members

• 2 positions for 2 years for School Employee Members

• 1 position for 2 years for a Student Member.

Nominations close at 4pm Tuesday 4th March 2025.

If we are fortunate enough to have more nominations than vacancies in any of the three categories we will go to an immediate election. More information will be made available if an election is required.

Council meet on the third Tuesday of every month and the new council will be convened on Tuesday 18th of March 2025 at 7.00pm

VSC SCHOOL CAPTAINS FOR 2025
