NAPLAN 2025

Our Year 3 students have been busy preparing for NAPLAN to begin next week!

With this being their first NAPLAN experience, they have spent some time learning about the processes, including the test conditions and time constraints.

While our students ALREADY have the necessary skills to perform well, they have been working hard to consolidate and refine some of their prior learning, in time for NAPLAN to begin.

To prepare for Writing, students have been revising their skills in writing narratives and persuasive texts. We have been learning to ‘bump up’ our texts by including interesting adjectives and adverbs. Students have also been practising creating a quick, but useful, plan in just FIVE minutes, reflecting real NAPLAN conditions. We are so proud of the improvements our students have shown after several practises.

To prepare for Maths, we have been working on a number of NAPLAN style questions in the tuning-in parts of our Maths lessons. We have been practising reading the questions carefully to ensure no important details are missed. For example - if asked to order numbers, students must double check whether they have been asked to order from smallest to largest or largest to smallest.

If your child has not yet brought their headphones to school, please get them to do so as soon as possible. These will be stored in the classroom and used throughout NAPLAN and for the remainder of the year.

Please note that students are NOT required to study or do any extra learning tasks at home in preparation. We simply ask that you support your child by letting them know that NAPLAN is a part of their school program and reminding them to simply do their best.

We know our Year 3 students will do an amazing job on their upcoming NAPLAN tests.  Remember, Year 3s, your best is all that is required! Good luck!
