Wellbeing @ MPS

Welcome back to the new school year at MPS! It has been a busy start to the year, with students getting to know each other and their teachers, settling in and working through our Start Up program. We have loved popping into classes and seeing students’ happy, smiling faces!

At assembly today, our Wellbeing & Inclusion/Culture & Diversity Captains Mikayla, Neive, Charlotte and Samara presented our school values and what they mean. Here is part of their speech:

Connection

We work together, help each other and build strong friendships.

  • We listen when others are talking and take turns
  • We include others in our games and make sure no one feels left out
  • We work as a team, sharing ideas and helping each other learn
  • We take care of our school and community, making it a safe and happy place for everyone

Curiosity

We ask questions, explore new ideas and love to learn.

  • We wonder about the world and ask, “Why?” and “What if?”
  • We try new things, even when they seem tricky at first
  • We listen to different ideas and think in creative ways
  • We keep trying, even when we don’t find the answer right away

Courage

We are brave, try new things, and stand up for what is right.

  • We have a go, even when something feels hard or scary
  • We stand up for others if we see something unfair or unkind
  • We admit when we make a mistake and try to fix it
  • We share our thoughts and ideas, even when we feel a little nervous

Compassion

We care for others, show kindness and help when we can.

  • We notice when someone is sad and check if they are okay
  • We use kind words and treat others with respect
  • We help when someone is struggling, even if it’s just a smile or a kind word
  • We think about how others feel and try to understand their point of view

Meet the MPS Wellbeing Team

Ady

For those of you who I have not yet met, my name is Ady Wall. I have been working here at Montmorency Primary School for over 8 years and I am the Disability and Inclusion Leader. I am really lucky to be working alongside Margarita Strateas in the Wellbeing Team for 2025 in our new Wellbeing space!

One of my biggest passions is ensuring that all students are catered for at their point of need. Here at Monty our staff are constantly working hard to make sure we can provide safe, welcoming and inclusive classrooms. If your child sees an allied health specialist (speech pathologist, psychologist, occupational therapist) or paediatrician, please share any relevant reports or suggestions of additional supports with your child's teacher. We will then work together to build these recommendations into your child's learning plan wherever possible.

I look forward to getting to know more of you this year - please feel free to come and say hi!

Margarita

I am delighted to introduce myself as the new Wellbeing and Engagement Coordinator at MPS. This is my twelfth year working at MPS and I am grateful to be part of a school community that values both academic success and student wellbeing. Supporting students to be confident, resilient and engaged learners is my greatest passion.

I believe that when students feel safe and supported, they are best able to thrive in their learning. Wellbeing is a team effort, and I look forward to working in partnership with teachers, Ady Wall (Disability and Inclusion Coordinator), Leadership and families to create a positive and inclusive environment where every student can flourish.

I am excited to get to know you all and to work together in supporting our students' wellbeing and development. Please feel free to reach out—I’d love to connect!
