Celebrating Year 12 Success and Future Pathways

Congratulations to our VCE and IB students on receiving their results. Following this, the VTAC Change of Preference period offered the opportunity for students to actively refine their course applications in preparation for the first round of tertiary offers, released on Monday, 23rd December.

We are incredibly proud of our students and look forward to hearing about the exciting opportunities that await them, via the destination survey we will send in February.

Well done, Class of 2024!

Year 10 Wrok Experince - A week of Growth and Discovery

The Year 10 Work Experience Program provided students with an invaluable opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of work. They developed independence, built confidence, and reflected on their career aspirations while exploring industries ranging from healthcare and education to engineering and creative arts. For many, it was their first experience in a professional setting, and the feedback from both students and employers was overwhelmingly positive.

We are very grateful to the employers who generously gave their time and guidance, as well as the staff and parents who supported students in preparing for this milestone. Special thanks also go to the teachers who checked in on students and employers throughout the week. Many teachers noted how rewarding it was to see students thriving in a different context, developing new skills, and representing our school with pride.

These photos and examples from students’ Reflective Journals are a glimpse into life during work experience and what can be gained:

“I was captivated and enjoyed listening to the various different cases and stories that brought people to court...Listening to how each of the lawyers debated and discussed their sides and how they would contradict and challenge the other’s defence and evidence…opened my eyes as to what I might want to do specifically if I go into law as a career.” Saasha Perera - Marco Man & Associates Law Firm

“The experience at AGL was incredibly valuable and gave me a clear understanding of how a large energy company operates…The tasks were engaging and gave me the opportunity to develop analytical skills, such as researching competitors and identifying customer trends…The experience gave me a sense of how offices function day-to-day, including how meetings are conducted, how tasks are prioritised, and how teams coordinate and communicate to meet goals." Zachariah Ming - AGL Energy

Isac Cai at South Yarra BMW was surprised by: “How much emphasis is placed on learning while working in real time...How much the apprentices rely on technology alongside their hands-on skills…How structured the apprenticeship program is, with hands-on work and ongoing study.”

Mycah Dizon - South Yarra BMW

“The best thing was the opportunity to interact with different departments and observe how they work together just to provide excellent customer service…I also enjoyed seeing customers' excitement and knowing I was contributing to their experience was incredibly rewarding.”
