TERM 1 WEEK 2 2025
Welcome back! We trust you had a restful and enjoyable break. As we prepare for the new school year, we are filled with enthusiasm and excitement to welcome all our students back to Lockleys North Primary School. Whether you are a returning family or joining us for the first time, we extend a warm welcome to you and your child.
This year, we are placing a stronger emphasis on continuing to embed our Aiming High Expectations, which instils our school values.
Aiming high is not just a goal. We believe that every child has the potential to achieve success, and we are committed to providing the support and guidance necessary for their progress towards success.
Our Aiming High Expectations will be explicitly taught and referenced as part of our behaviour expectations. Students will understand that these expectations apply always, whether in the classroom, during learning time, or in the schoolyard. We believe that setting clear expectations creates a positive and respectful learning environment for everyone.
We encourage you to reinforce these expectations at home and engage in conversations with your child about their experiences at school. Your partnership is invaluable in ensuring a successful and positive learning journey for your child.
At LNPS, student safety is our top priority. We encourage families to discuss "stranger danger" with their children, emphasising the importance of staying in groups and seeking help from trusted adults if they feel unsafe. Our teachers also address this topic with students. Additionally, we implement the Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum, which equips students with the skills to recognise and respond to unsafe situations through age-appropriate lessons on personal safety and respectful relationships. Together, we are committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for all our students.
Last year we embarked on a journey researching best practices from high-performing schools across the world. Our research into high-performing schools worldwide confirmed we were on the right track, however also highlighted areas for improvement in our teaching. This led to school-wide professional development focused on PR1ME Mathematics, a program designed to cultivate deep conceptual understanding and strong problem-solving skills in our students.
Look out for the student Learning Reflection Journals being sent home, where you will get further insights into Mathematics learning.
As per the Department for Education Policy - All students are required to keep personal devices 'off and away' between the start and end of each school day and while they are attending authorised school activities off-site, such as camps and excursions. This includes mobile phones and smartwatches, (e.g. Apple Watches). We appreciate everyone's support with this policy.
We are delighted to introduce our exceptional staff, the cornerstone of our school's commitment to fostering growth. Our staff are a team of passionate educators, administrators, and support professionals. With a wealth of experience, our staff bring vast and rich knowledge and expertise to the classroom.
Meet the LNPS staff 2025!
Finally, sadly, we have to announce that Nik Skrob our Assistant Principal has been seconded to Head Office for Semester 1. He begins next Monday 10th February. Nik is going to be a huge loss across the school. We are in the process of appointing his replacement at the moment and hope to have an announcement very soon. Please see Nik's Wellbeing and Engagement page for further information.
