Kings Park Campus Principal Message
What a great, yet busy, year 2024 was. Our Year 10 students have formally completed their studies on the Campus. They completed their examinations at the Delahey Campus and had two weeks of ‘Step-up’ (where they undertake their Year 11 subject with their 2025 classroom teachers).
The final official event for our Year 10 students was their formal, which took place last week. It was an enjoyable and memorable night for all who attended. Thank you to both Heath Simpson and Karen Martin (Campus Leaders) for their organisation of the evening.
Our Year 7, 8 and 9 students are looking forward to our End-of-Year activities to celebrate what has been a productive and rewarding year for them which commenced this week. This includes Westgate Indoor Sports Complex (Yr. 7 to 9) and Funfields (Yr. 7 and 8).
The College Performing Arts/Music students shone on Thursday 21st November (College Music Night). They displayed their musical talents to our school community. Thank you to all the staff who helped prepare and support students for their performances.
Our new Year 7 2025 students attended an Information evening with their families and had the opportunity to meet their 2025 CONNECT teachers. There were lots of excited faces and many questions about the upcoming transition to secondary school. Students will be returning to our campus tomorrow (Tuesday December 12th) for their official Orientation Day. Thank you to Kayla Di Benedetto (Transitions Leader), Tina Tsaloukis (Pathways/Transitions Leading Teacher) and Miranda Orford (Campus Leader) for their organisation of the evening and Orientation Day.
We have completed the formal presentation of 2025 Year 7 Scholarships. The award winners were presented, with their families present, at their primary schools during whole school assemblies. We thank primary school principals for their support.
Last Thursday we held our 2024 Awards Assembly. We thank the following distinguished guests for their support:
Luba Grigorovich (MP, Member for Kororoit)
Catherine Morris (State Manager ABCN/School Council)
Jodi Park (Principal, Kings Park Primary School
Karen Wood (Principal, Movelle Primary School)
Cr Victoria Borg (Deputy Major, Brimbank Council)
Luba Grigorovitch presented her ‘Leadership Award’ to Amanda Silipa. Amanda has been an outstanding member of our school community this year and consistently throughout her time at Copperfield College. She has been a sports leader, often delivering the sports report at assemblies, in front of the whole school. Her teachers are incredibly complimentary of her initiative shown in classes, frequently helping out with activities and classwork.
Other noteworthy award recipients were:
Long Tan’s ADF Leadership Award: Billy Do
Kwong Lee Dow Scholarship: Billy Do
Australian Defence Force Future Innovators Award: Jane Tran
Campus Principals Award 2024: Umu Jalloh
At the Assembly we also recognised the significant contribution our 2024 Campus Captains (Billy Do & Bryan Vuong) made to the life of the Campus and announced our 2025 Campus Captains: Umu Jalloh and Sarah Scarcella.
We wish our students, parents/families and staff a safe and enjoyable holiday season. Take care of you and each other.
We also thank all members of School Council for their support in 2024 and we look forward to working with each of you in 2025.
Mr Lance Petherick and Dr Michael Gruis Campus Principals
